And Upon My House Shall It Begin

"Yea, thus saith the still small voice, which whispereth through and pierceth all things, and often times it maketh my bones to quake while it maketh manifest, saying:

"And it shall come to pass that I, The Lord God, will send one mighty and strong(a), holding the scepter(b) of power in his hand, clothed with light for a covering, whose mouth shall utter words, eternal words; while his bowels shall be a fountain of truth, to set in order the house of God(c), and to arrange by lot(d) the inheritances of the Saints whose names are found, and the names of their fathers, and of their children, enrolled in the book of the law of God;

"While that man, who was called of God and appointed, that putteth forth his hand to steady the ark of God(e), shall fall by the shaft of death(f), like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightning.

"And all they who are not found written in the book of remembrance shall find none inheritance in that day, but they shall be cut asunder, and their portion shall be appointed them among unbelievers, where are wailing and gnashing of teeth.

"These things I say not of myself; therefore, as the Lord speaketh, he will also fulfill." (D. & C. 85:6-10).

Joseph Smith begins by graphically describing the overpowering strength of this revelation (See verse 6) and makes it very clear (in verse 10 ) that "These things I say not of myself; therefore, as the Lord speaketh, he will also fulfill."

Joseph Smith was not, however, the only prophet forced to bear witness of this man through the power of the Holy Ghost. Isaiah also testified that "Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one. . ." (Isaiah 28:2); and Lehi told his son Joseph that "...thy seed shall not be destroyed, for they shall hearken to the words of the book [after the restoration of the gospel by Joseph Smith]. And there shall rise up one mighty among them, [the seed of Lehi's son Joseph] who shall do much good, both in word and in deed, being an instrument in the hands of God, unto the bringing to pass much restoration [i.e.., to set in order?] unto the house of Israel, and unto the seed of thy brethren" (see 2 Nephi 3:22-24).

As the underlying mission of the one mighty and strong is "to set in order the house of God," The Latter Day Saints, or those who can call themselves such, need not suppose that they will not be held accountable as individuals or as the parts which comprise the whole.

MORONI:
The Lord hath shown unto me... things... which must... come, at that day when these things must come forth among you [after the restoration]...I speak unto you [the reader] as if ye were present, and yet ye are not... Jesus Christ hath shown you [The Latter Day Saints] unto me, and I know your doing... I know that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts. And there are none save a few only who do not lift themselves up in the pride of their hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envyings, and strifes, and malice, and persecutions, and all manner of iniquities; and your churches, yea, even every one, have become polluted because of the pride of your hearts... ye do love money, and your substance, and your fine apparel, and the adorning of your churches, more than ye love the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted. O ye pollutions, ye hypocrites... Why have ye polluted the holy church of God?... because of the praise of the world?...Why do ye build up your secret abominations to get gain, and cause that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the Lord from the ground, for vengeance upon your heads: Behold, the sword of vengeance hangeth over you; and the time soon cometh that he avenge the blood of the saints upon you, for he will not suffer their cries any longer. (Mormon 8:34-41; See also 3 Nephi 20:20)

CAPTAIN MORONI:
Do ye suppose that God will look upon you as guiltless while ye sit still and behold things? Behold I say unto you, Nay. Now I would that ye should remember that God has Said that the inward vessel shall be cleansed first, and then shall the outer vessel be cleansed also. (Alma 60:23)

JESUS CHRIST:
Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth, a day of wrath, a day of burning, a day of desolation, of weeping, of mourning, and of lamentation; and as a whirlwind it shall come upon all the face of the earth, saith the Lord.

And upon my house shall it begin, and from my house shall it go forth, saith the Lord;

First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord." (D & C 112:24-26)

PETER:
For the time must come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? (1 Peter 4:17,18)

JOHN TAYLOR:
...The sufferings and driving of the people from Nauvoo will only be as a drop in the bucket as compared with the suffering that will take place at this time, until one-half of the people will not follow the leaders and one-half of the others will die and turn because of the sufferings they will have to go through, but the lord will bless those who stay with authorities and they shall not all be destroyed. Before we go further into this subject, we must understand that the Anglo-Saxon Latter Day Saints are identified with the Gentiles in the Scriptures:

  • The revelations and commandments which thou hast given unto us, who are identified with the Gentiles (D & C 109:60).
  • Wherefore, I must bring forth the fulness of my gospel from the Gentiles unto the house of Israel (D & C 14:10).
  • For it shall come to pass, that which I spake by the mouths of my prophets shall be fulfilled; for I will consecrate of the riches of those who embrace my gospel among the Gentiles unto the poor of my people who are of the house of Israel (D & C 42:39).
  • He shall manifest himself unto the Gentiles and also unto the Jews, and the last shall be first and the first shall be last (1 Nephi 13:42).
  • These things shall be hid up, to come forth unto the Gentiles (1 Nephi 13:35).
  • And now, these things which our father meaneth concerning the grafting in of the natural branches through the fullness of the Gentiles....Then shall the fullness of the gospel of the Messiah come unto the Gentiles, and from the Gentiles unto the remnant of our Seed. And at that day shall the remnant of our seed know that they are of the house of Israel, and that they are the covenant people of the Lord (1 Nephi 15:13,14).
  • And now, I would prophesy somewhat more concerning the Jews and the Gentiles. For after the book of which I have spoken shall come forth, and be written unto the Gentiles.... Shall the remnant of our seed know concerning us, how that we came out from Jerusalem, and that they are descendants of the Jews (2 Nephi 30:3,4).
  • These works ...shall come forth unto the Gentiles (3 Nephi 21:5).
  • These things I have written... that they may be brought again unto this people, from the Gentiles (3 Nephi 26:8).
  • ...his gospel, which shall go forth unto them from the gentiles... (Mormon 5:15).
  • Wherefore, I must bring forth the fullness of my gospel from the Gentiles unto the house of Israel (D & C 14:10).
  • Unto the gentiles first, and then, behold, and lo, they shall turn unto the Jews (D & C 90:9).
  • First unto the Gentiles and secondly unto the Jews (D & C 107:33).
  • The Book of Mormon, which contains the truth and the word of God - which is my word to the Gentile, that it may soon go to the Jew, of whom the Lamanites are a remnant (D & C 19:26,27).

ZENOS:
The wild branches [The apostate Gentiles] have grown and overrun the roots thereof; and ...it hath brought forth much evil fruit... and it will soon become ripened, that it may be cast into the fire...And it came to pass that the Servant said unto his master: is it not the loftiness of thy vineyard [raised up in their pride] -- have not the branches thereof overcome the roots which are good? ...Taking strength unto themselves [Lifted up in their own wisdom and relying upon the arm of flesh]... is this not the cause that the trees of thy vineyard have become corrupted?... Wherefore, let us take of the branches of these I have planted in the nether most parts of my vineyard, and let us graft them into the tree from whence they came; and let us pluck from the tree those branches whose fruit is most bitter, and graft in the natural branches of the tree in stead thereof... Wherefore, go to, and call Servants, that we may labor diligently with our might in the vineyard, that we may prepare the way, that I may bring forth again the natural fruit, which natural fruit is good and most precious above all other fruit. Wherefore, let us go to and labor with our might this last time, for behold the end draweth nigh, and this is for the last time that I shall prune my vineyard... And as they begin to grow ye shall clear away the branches which bring forth bitter fruit, according to the strength of the good and the size thereof; and ye shall not clear away the bad all at once...ye shall clear away the bad according as the good shall grow...until the good shall overcome the bad, and the bad be hewn down and cast into the fire, that they cumber not the ground of my vineyard; and thus will I sweep away the bad out of my vineyard...And the branches of the natural tree will I graft into the natural branches of the tree; and thus will I bring them together again, that they shall bring forth the natural fruit, and they shall be one. And the bad shall be cast away, yea, even out of all the land of my vineyard... And there begin to be the natural fruit again in the vineyard; and the natural branches begin to grow and thrive exceedingly; and the wild branches began to be plucked off and to be cast away... even until the bad had been cast away out of the vineyard, and the Lord had preserved unto himself that the trees had become again the natural fruit; and they became like unto one body ...And...the Lord of the vineyard saw that his fruit was good, and that his vineyard was no more corrupt.... (Jacob Chapter 5).

BRIGHAM YOUNG:
"I am looking forward to the time when they, the Indians, will come forth to save Israel... I am very much afraid that we will be their servants instead of their masters... When they do come to save Israel, look to see them as a flame of fire, a mighty rushing torrent, like the grand march of angels" (Y.W.J., l:263). "... Our Hope lies in the Lamanites. I hope that you brethren who labor among the Indians will be kind to them. Remember that someday they will take their position as the rightful heirs to the principles of life and salvation, for they never will give up the principles of this gospel" (B. Young, from the Life Story of Mosiah Hancock, 73.4) See also Alma 23:6; 27:27; Helaman 15:5-10; 3 Nephi 6:14.

In 1845 the Twelve Apostles wrote a proclamation by the power of the Holy Ghost, and the spirit of prophecy. Consider the following excerpts from this proclamation.

Be it known to them [The Jews] that we now hold the keys of the priesthood and the Kingdom which are soon to be restored unto them [The Jews].

...He [The Lord] will assemble the natives, the remnants of Joseph in America; and make of them a great, and strong, and powerful nation: and he will civilize and enlighten them, and will establish a holy city, and temple, and seat of government among them, which shall be called Zion.

And there shall be his tabernacle, his sanctuary, his throne, and seat of government for the whole continent of North and South America for ever...

The despised and degraded son of the forest, who has wandered in dejection and sorrow, and suffering reproach, shall then drop his disguise, and stand forth in manly dignity and exclaim to the gentiles who have envied and sold him, "I am Joseph, does my father yet live?" or in other words; I am a descendant of that Joseph who was sold into Egypt. You have hated me, and sold me, and thought I was dead. But Lo! I live, and am heir to the inheritance, titles, honors, priesthood, scepter, crown, throne, and eternal life, and dignity of my fathers...(Messages of the First Presidency 1:260).

LEHI:
And now behold my son Joseph, after this manner did my father of old prophesy. Wherefore, because of this covenant thou art blessed; for thy seed shall not be destroyed, for they shall harken unto the words of the book. And there shall rise up one mighty among them, who shall do much good both in word and in deed, being an instrument in the hands of God, with exceeding faith, to work mighty wonders, and do that which is great in the sight of God, unto the bringing to pass much restoration unto the house of Israel, and unto the seed of thy brethren (2 Nephi 3:22-24).

But don't the keys of leadership belong to Ephraim in the last days? -- Yes! The Indians are, however, Ephraim.

"Brother Joseph, how is it that we call the Book of Mormon the Stick of Ephraim??? Joseph replied;.... Ishmael and his family were of the lineage of Ephraim, and Lehi's sons took Ishmael's daughters for wives.... If we had those one hundred and sixteen pages of manuscript which Martin Harris got away with, you would know all about it, for Ishmael's ancestry is made very plain therein." (Contributor, 17:424).

JESUS CHRIST: (3rd Nephi 16:10-20)
(10)"And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fullness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and secret abominations; and if they shall do all these things, and shall reject the fullness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fullness of my gospel from among them."

  • "There is one clause in brother Joseph's letter which you may not understand; that is this, `If the people of Zion did not repent, the Lord would seek another place and another people.' Zion is the place that the Temple will be built, and the people gathered, but all the people on that holy land being under condemnation, the Lord will cut off if they repent not, and bring another people upon it, that will serve him" (History of the Church 4:320).

(11)"And then will I remember my covenant which I have made unto my people, O house of Israel, and I will bring my gospel unto them."

  • "We receive the priesthood and power and authority. If we make bad use of the priesthood, do you not see that the day will come when God will reckon with us, and he will take it from us and give it to those who will make better use of it." (Heber C. Kimball J.D., 6:125)

(12) "And I will show unto thee, O house of Israel, that the Gentiles shall not have power over you; but I will remember my covenant unto you, O house of Israel, and you shall come unto the knowledge of the fullness of my Gospel."

  • "Thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles" (3 Nephi 22:3); "I am very much afraid that we will be their servants instead of their masters" (Y.W.J., 1:263).

(13)"But if the Gentiles will repent and return unto me, Saith the father, behold, they shall be numbered among my people, O house of Israel."

  • "Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham" (Gal 3:7).

(14) "And I will not suffer my people, who are of the house of Israel, to go through among them, and tread them down, Saith the Father."

(15) "But if they will not turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice, I will suffer them, yea, I will suffer my people, O house of Israel, that they shall go through among them, and shall tread them down, and they shall be a salt that has lost it's savor, which is thenceforth good for nothing only to be cast out and trodden under foot of my people, O house of Israel."

  • "When men are called to mine everlasting gospel and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the Savor of men; they are called to be the Savor of men, therefore if that salt of the earth lose it's savor, behold, it is thenceforth good for nothing only to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men."(D & C 101:39,40; - See also Is. 28:3; Matt. 5:13; D & C 103:10)

(16) "verily, verily, I say unto you, thus hath the father commanded me.--- That I should give unto this people this land for their inheritance."

  • "The Lord hath covenanted this land unto me [Lehi], and to my children forever" (2 Nephi 1:5)

The Lord repeats this message in 3 Nephi 20:14-22.

(14)"And the Father hath commanded me that I should give unto you this land for your inheritance."

(15)"And I say unto you, that if the Gentiles do not repent after the blessing which they shall receive, after they have scattered my people --"

(16)"Then shall ye who are a remnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver."

  • Mormon addresses the reader in chapter 5:22-24: "And then, O ye Gentiles, how can ye stand before the power of God, except ye shall repent and turn from your evil ways? Know ye not that ye are in the hands of God? Know ye not that He hath power, and at his command the earth shall be rolled together as a scroll? Therefore, repent ye, and humble yourselves before him, lest He shall come out in justice against you -- lest a remnant of the seed of Jacob shall go forth among you as a lion and tear you in pieces, and there is none to deliver." (See also Is. 5:29,30; Micah 5:8-15).

(17)"Thy hand shall be lifted upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off."

(18)"And I will gather my people together as a man gathereth his sheaves into the floor."

(19)"For I will make my people whom the father hath covenanted, yea, I will make thy horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass, and thou shalt beat in pieces many people; and I will consecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth. And behold, I am he who doeth it."

  • Compare with Micah 4:11-13.

(20)"And it shall come to pass, saith the father, that the sword of my justice shall hang over them at that day; and except they repent it shall fall upon them, saith the Father, yea, even upon all the nations of the Gentiles."

  • "...O ye pollutions, ye hypocrites... Why have ye polluted the holy church of God?... because of the praise of the world?...Why do ye build up your secret abominations to get gain, and cause that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the Lord from the ground, for vengeance upon your heads: Behold, the sword of vengeance hangeth over you..."(Mormon 8:38-41)
  • "Wherefore, I call upon the weak things of the world, those who are unlearned and despised, to thrash the nations by the power of my spirit; And their arm shall be my arm, and I will be their shield and their buckler; and I will gird up their loins, and they shall fight manfully for me; and their enemies shall be under their feet; and I will let fall the sword in their behalf, and by the fire of mine indignation will I preserve them." (D & C 35:13,14)

(21)"And it shall come to pass that I will establish my people, O house of Israel."

(22)"And behold, this people will I establish in this land, unto the fulfilling of the covenant which I made with your father Jacob; and It shall be a New Jerusalem. And the powers of heaven shall be in the midst of this people; yea, even I will be in the midst of you."

The Lord repeats this message a third time in 3 Nephi 21:12-23:

(12)"And my people who are a remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles, Yea, in the midst of them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through he both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver"

  • Compare with Is. 5:29,30.

(13)"Their hand shall be lifted up upon their adversaries, and all their enemies shall be cut off."

(14)"Yea, wo be unto the Gentiles except they repent; for it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Father, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots;"

(15)"And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strongholds;"

(16)"And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy land, and thou shalt have no more soothsayers;"

(17)"Thy graven images will I also cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee, and thou shalt no more worship the works of thy hands;"

(18)"And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee; so will I destroy thy cities;"

(19)"And it shall come to pass that all lyings, and deceivings, and envyings, and strifes, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, shall be done away."

(20)"For it shall come to pass, saith the Father, that at that day whosoever will not repent and come unto my beloved son, them will I cut off from among my people, O house of Israel;"

(21)"And I will execute vengeance and fury upon them [The Gentiles], even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard."

(22)"But if they will repent and hearken unto my words, and harden not their hearts, I will establish my church among them, and they shall come in unto the covenant and be numbered among this the remnant of Jacob, unto whom I have given this land for their inheritance;"

(23)" And they shall assist my people, the remnant of Jacob, and also as many of the house of Israel as shall come, that they may build a city, which shall be called the New Jerusalem."

Isaiah describes the state of certain apostate Latter Day Saints who are identified by their patriarchal ties to the house of Ephraim. (Isaiah 28:1-22); a careful reading or study of each verse will reveal much more than meets the eye at first glance:

(1)"Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!"

  • Note that Isaiah uses wine and strong drink as metaphors for pride, power, and the love of the world.
  • "... is not the loftiness [pride] of thy vineyard... Taking strength unto themselves [relying upon the arm of Flesh] ...is this not the cause that the trees of thy vineyard have become corrupted?" (See Jacob 5).
  • "At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts" (3 Nephi 16:10).
  • "And your churches, yea, even every one, have become polluted because of the pride of your hearts" (See Mormon 8:34-41).
  • It is also interesting to note that the drunkards of Ephraim are referred to as "A fading flower", while the Lord says that the "Lamanites shall blossom as the rose." (D & C 49:24)

(2)"Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to earth with the hand."

  • "And it shall come to pass that I the Lord God, will send one mighty and strong. . . " (D & C 85:7).

(3)"The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:"

  • "I will suffer my people, O house of Israel, that they shall go through among them and shall tread them down, and they shall be as salt that has lost it's savor, which is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of my people, O house of Israel." (3 Nephi 16:15).
  • "When men are called to mine everlasting gospel, and covenant with an everlasting covenant, they are accounted as the salt of the earth and the savor of men, Therefore if that salt of the earth lose it's savor, behold, it is thenceforth good for nothing only to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men" (D & C 101:39,40).
  • "for they are not all Israel, which are of Israel" (Rom. 9:6).
  • Therefore, "The rebellious shall be cut out of the land of Zion....For I say that the rebellious are not the blood of Ephraim, wherefore they shall be plucked out" (D & C 64:35,36).

(4)"And the glorious beauty which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the Summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up."

(5)"In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people."

(6)"And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate."

(7)"But they also have erred through wine [Pride], and through strong drink [delusions] are out of the way; the Priest and the Prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; The err in vision, they stumble in judgment."

  • See Is. 24:5,6; D & C 1:14-16.

(8)"For all tables are full of vomit and filthiness, so there is no place clean."

  • In "The Book Of Isaiah" (p.79,80), Avraham Gileadi describes this as a "Transitional verse, This imagery relates to the condemning of religious leaders in verse 7... It says that the people are being polluted. Like the food that is set out for eating, The `Tables' signify not literal tables, but, symbolically, the vehicle for conveying spiritual food. Rhetorically, the idea of tables denotes books or tablets containing the word of God (compare 30:8). The contents of these tables, however, are impure. They abound with partially digested truths, regurgitated for the people to consume. Or they contain excrement, wholly polluted matter that profits nothing."

(9)"Whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from milk, and drawn from the breasts."

  • Babes.

(10)"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little and there a little:"

(11)" For with stammering lips and another language will he speak to this people."

(12)"To whom he said, this is the rest where with ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear."

  • "But they hardened their hearts and could not endure his presence; therefore, the Lord in his wrath, for his anger was kindled against them, swore that they should not enter into his rest...which rest is the fullness of his glory"( D & C 84:24)
  • "When the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19)
  • These scriptures make it quite clear that the "rest" or "refreshing" which this verse speaks of pertains to a doctrine which was to be restored in the dispensation of the fullness of time, "yet they would not hear."

(13)"But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared and taken."

  • That they might walk [go] backward [in time, back to the beginning] and fall and be broken, and snared and taken.

(14)"Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem"

  • "Like the name Zion(v.16), Jerusalem serves a code name, identifying a latter day place and people of the Lord" (Gileadi, "The Book of Isaiah," p.85).

(15)"Because ye have said, we have made a covenant with death, and with hell ye are at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves."

  • If this is understood as Temple oaths not to go to the left, you can see that word "refuge" has a direct connection to the Temple in the Menorah Code. The word "lies" as well. Look at Menorah Code with these words in Hebrew. They have turned the refuge of glory into a refuge of lies, and they believe their own fiction they created. Sorry, there is nowhere you can hide from Judgment.

(16)"Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste."

(17)"Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place."

  • Watch for this. There are numerous references in the Menorah Code linking this event with the Temple.

(18)"And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it."

  • The words used by Isaiah, a code master, show me that the covenant with death and hell are penalties in the Temple Ordinance which have now been annulled. They will soon be "DIS"-annulled. Those who think they have a valid contract, without the penalty, will be sad to find the penalty will be invoked.

(19)"From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning it shall pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report."

  • "For it shall come to pass, saith the father, that at that day whosoever will not repent and come unto my Beloved Son, them will I cut off from among my people, O house of Israel; and I will execute vengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard"(3 Nephi 21:20,21).

(20)"For the bed is shorter than a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it."

  • Those who reject that rest which is spiritual (v.12) shall not find comfort or rest in those things which are temporal.

(21)"For the Lord shall rise up as in Mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act."

  • In "The Book of Isaiah", p.87, Gileadi explains that mount Perazim ("The mount of breakings forth") refers to the events on mount Sinai. Specifically the earth opening up. Are the references in this chapter, water, hailstones & the earth opening up somehow related to the waters of the Snake River [Rev. 12:15, 16]? Read those verses, look at the words used in Greek. The mouth of the Snake River is located in the mouth of the Yellowstone Caldera [mouth of the dragon]. The marker is the time of the gathering, and I believe it would fulfill this chapter of Isaiah. [Remember lake Bonneville?]
  • "The valley of Gibeon" refers to a people who Israel was obligated to protect (because of a treaty obtained by deception). Joshua 10:1-14 , tells of the five kings of the Amorites making war against Gibeon (v.5); "So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him... And the Lord said unto Joshua, fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee... And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel... That the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them... and... They were more which died with hailstones than they whom the Children of Israel slew with the sword... Then spake Joshua to the Lord... in sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon. And the Sun stood still, and the Moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies... so the Sun stood still in the Midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord harkened unto the voice of man: for the Lord fought for Israel." // This is where I just have to speculate that the hailstones could have come from a volcano, or something in the sky dragging asteroids. I question this because YHWH uses natural forces over and over to achieve his ends. So was this an exoplanet grabbing the earth so that it would stay still? If the force was strong enough to grab the planet it would certainly be strong enough to cause a volcano to go off. All of these things being said, what would cause the face of the earth to be turned upside down? The book of Revelations puts that event in the extremely near future. The questions that I'm bringing up are not if these events will happen, but if they are linked to the same event.
  • The reference to Mount Sinai where "The glory of the Lord" came to earth in "The midst of the cloud"(Ex. 24:16), and the great hail which slayed the kingdoms which fought against Israel (Josh. 10:11) in they valley of Gibeon are both types which relate to Yom Kippur, judgment day. Don't misunderstand, when the term "day" is used, in "judgment day", it is not going to be over when you wake up in the morning. It is a period of tribulation.
  • The second half of Isaiah 28:21, says, "That he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act." - "That all men may be left without excuse; that wise men and rulers may hear and know that which they have not considered; that I may proceed to bring to pass my act, my strange act, and perform my work, my strange work, that men may discern between the righteous and the wicked, Saith your God" (D & C 101:93-95; compare 3 Nephi 21:8-12; Jn. 15:22; Rom. 1:20). "Therefore, wo be unto the Gentiles if it so be that they harden their hearts against the Lamb of God. For the time cometh, saith the Lamb of God, that I will work a great and marvelous work among the children of men; a work which shall be everlasting, either on the one hand or on the other - either to the convincing them unto peace and life eternal, or unto the deliverance of them to the hardness of their hearts and the blindness of their minds unto their being brought down into captivity, and also into destruction, both temporally and spiritually..." (1 Ne. 14:7; see also 3rd Ne. 28:32; Ether 4:15,16).

(22)"Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong; for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth."

  • D & C 112:26 "First among those among you, saith the Lord, who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house, saith the Lord."
  • I don't know where else to throw in this question. Isaiah 3:17, "Therefore the Lord will strike witha scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts." What does this sound like to you? As I said, in the gathering, I would steer clear of the fat valley.

The point to this section is that there are many scriptures which prophesy of members of the church apostatizing over "the fullness" of the gospel. That too many members are raised up in their pride and believe that they know it all, they have received and they need no more. They do not believe these scriptures are true, and they will heed those voices that tell them what they want to hear.
